Description
Our virtual event, the Secret Sortie 4, explores the bridleways and byways to the south of the Peak District national park. This time we’re starting at altitude (around 1000ft in old money) so the only way is down (and up again).
There’s only one route this time that starts from Middleton by Wirksworth just outside Matlock. It begins on the High Peak Trail – one of the owrld’s oldest railways that was used to transport the cotton from Cromford over the Peak to the canal at Whaley Bridge.
The routes around 100km long and explores the southwest of the Peak and beyond. It’s one of our happy places with a combination of big skies, white roads and is a lot quieter than other parts of the area.
Our usual format applies, sign up today and we’ll reveal the route to you on August 1st.
Not only will you get a copy of the GPX file, but also a sew on patch for your bag . As it’s a virtual event you can ride it as and when you like.
It goes without saying that if you do enter not only will you make our day, but you will do so at your own risk and we’re not responsible if you get yourself into a bit of a tangle. Please don’t ride like a balloon, leave no trace, be nice to other trail users and smile at motorists !
Don’t forget to share your adventures using the hashtags #velotastic and #SecretSortie as we love seeing your pictures and reading your ride reports on social media.
