Our Non-Events

Our virtual non-events started during 2020. Prior to the pandemic we used to organise events such as the Hardcore100 which were non-competitive reliability type rides. Due to the restrictions that were in place mass events were off the cards so we decided to come up with something else.

We came up with our virtual events – the first one being the Secret Sortie. The concept was similar to our reliability rides – no feed stations and a big day out in the saddle following one of the routes that I’d especially created. Instead of having an event date when a mass participation ride would occur, there is a route release date when I forward a link to participants who could then ride the course at their leisure when it suited them. A sew on patch is available for each non-event and having a route release date gives me an idea on how many of those to order.

Running non-events has several advantages over a traditional type events. It was easier to design routes as I didn’t have to consult with landowners. I didn’t have to worry about hiring an event HQ with suitable parking – finding somewhere to store participants vehicles is a real headache. My costs are also a lot less – just my time researching and checking routes. The savings I am able to pass on to everyone that enters.

I originally branded these as virtual events but feel that as they have evolved the term non-event is more appropriate.

FAQ

What do I get for my money ?

Each non-event includes a route that you can ride any time and a sew on patch for your bag.

So I’m paying the cost of a couple of coffees for a GPX file ?

You also get a patch for your bag. You are also paying for my time to devise a route and nearly 40 years of riding experience and a lifetime of local knowledge.

So what’s the difference between that and the free routes on your site ?

Our non-event routes are exclusive to participants, plus you get a free patch

When is the event date ?

You can ride the routes any time you like. I put a route release date on to give me time to devise and check the route, give me an idea how many patches I need to order and add a bit of excitement to the whole thing.

When can I ride the route ?

Whenever you like.

When do I get my patch ?

We normally get the patches 3-4 weeks after the route release date.
